Following an 11/10 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:05 Epsom
All six runners look to have a chance in this 0-95 handicap but preference goes to G’Daay (best priced at 8/1) who has shown improved form since the application of a visor. The Joe Parr trained five-year-old finished 2nd over this course and distance in July off a mark of 78 before going one better later that month off the same mark by a length.
G’Daay ran well earlier this month at Chester to finish 3rd behind Safe Voyage off a mark of 81 on soft ground and he should appreciate this return to faster ground. He runs off the same mark here and should be involved in the finish.
15:10 Southwell
The Alan Brown trained Rodborough (best priced at 4/1) got off the mark at the seventh attempt last time over this course and distance and she should hold strong claims under a 6lb penalty. The three-year-old outran odds of 80/1 to finish 3rd at Newcastle on her debut before struggling in handicaps on turf this season. As a result she had dropped down to a mark of 57 where she defied odds of 14/1 to win over this course and distance by 2 ½ lengths.
Connections of Rodborough fitted her with first time cheekpieces that day and that alongside the return to the AW meant she put in a career best effort according to RPRs. If she replicates that performance then she should prove hard to beat under a 6lb penalty.
16:25 Southwell
The Jack Jones trained The Waiting Game (best priced at 11/8) is 2/2 since being dropped to 6f and she should prove hard to beat under a 5lb penalty. The four-year-old made all by 3 ¾ lengths at Chelmsford over 6f earlier this month before defying a 5lb penalty to repeat the trick by 3 ½ lengths last time.
The Waiting Game showed more restraint to race in 2nd that day which will give David Probert more options at this track and I expect her to complete a hat-trick of wins this month.
