Following 4/1 and 11/8 winners yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three selections for today's action.
16:00 Ripon
Mark’s Choice (best priced at 17/2) needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort in the Silver Trophy last time over this course and distance but that is expected with a visor back on. Adrian Keatley trained seven-year-old ran well on his stable debut in the Great St Wilfrid last season to finish 3rd despite being 10lbs out of the handicap before winning this race later that month off a mark of 81.
Mark’s Choice was only beaten 1 ¾ lengths over this course and distance in May off a mark of 80 before running poorly when slowly away without any headgear last time. He has dropped a further 2lbs down to a mark of 75 and he looks worth taking a chance on back in this race.
16:15 Newbury
The William Haggas trained Medieval Gold (best priced at 3/1) looks sure to improve on his handicap debut over 1m4f and he is expected to get off the mark in this race. The three-year-old has form figures of 566 so far in his career with respectable runs at Chester, Newcastle and Leicester but he now makes his handicap debut having been gelded following his latest run.
This step up to 1m4f should suit the son of Camelot and Medieval Gold should prove hard to beat if first time cheekpieces help off an opening mark of 67.
16:40 Worcester
Stumps Or Slips needs to bounce back from a poor effort at Bangor last time so preference goes to Miss Antipova (best priced at 7/2) who may finally get her head in front in first time cheekpieces. The Martin Keighley trained eleven-year-old has finished 2nd on her previous five starts this season at Ffos Las, Southwell, Worcester and Uttoxeter off marks of 75, 76 and 78 (the previous three starts).
Miss Antipova was only beaten 1 ¼ lengths last time at Uttoxeter by Carlo Du Berlais (favourite in the 5:15) and she looks sure to run well again off only a 3lb higher mark. The first-time cheekpieces could help her attitude in the finish and she can hopefully make it 22nd time lucky in her career!
