Leg 1 Selections: Calvert, Alnoory
CALVERT finished a place in front of ALNOORY when the pair finished third and fourth respectively at Windsor 17 days ago and it is highly possible the former, trained by Roger Teal, will confirm his superiority here with that latest experience under his belt. The latter is worse off at the weights but is the solid substitute for back-up purposes in leg 1. I think it is difficult to split them but the firstly-mentioned selection just shades the verdict if I was forced to decide on one, though both are included.

Leg 2 Selections: Sayedaty Sadaty
In leg 2, SAYEDATY SADATY should take the world of beating if he can put his quirkiness to one side. He went very close on his debut at Yarmouth when beaten a neck and that form has been advertised since. He then shaped well when midfield in the Chesham at Royal Ascot, beaten only three lengths, and while he hung badly right and crashed out through the rails after a few strides last-time-out, he is still the form-pick and will be very hard to beat if none the worse. He is the only pick in this race.

Leg 3 Selections: City Of York
Leg 3 can see the David Simcock-trained CITY OF YORK go close to supplementing his latest win at Lingfield. He has already finished third in two of his three starts at this course and organically produced a career-best performance last time, where he won with a bit to spare. The third has come out of the race and won since, so the form has a strong look to it, and he could prove extremely hard to beat on his handicap debut with plenty more to come.

Leg 4 Selections: King Of Fury, Moon Flight, Irregular Warfare
Lots to like about a couple of intended runners in leg 4, firstly, KING OF FURY, who turned in a promising debut third at Leicester, faring best of those held-up, and should improve. MOON FLIGHT has the worst of the draw but did run well on his debut at this course when fourth and could go well, while IRREGULAR WARFARE won easily at Wolverhampton when last seen and should go close on his seasonal reappearance.

Leg 5 Selections: Page Three, Compliant, Pure Gold, Mildyjama
The most competitive race on the card is leg 5 but I will try to cover all bases. PAGE THREE hasn’t been able to deliver on her earlier promise but a repeat of her debut third when not far behind Crack Of Light, who is rated much higher than these, would be enough to see her competitive against these. COMPLIANT won at this course back in February and should continue her good run of form, while other course winners PURE GOLD and MILDYJAMA also appeal and make the shortlist.

Leg 6 Selections: Zodiac Star, Band Of Steel
Alan King’s ZODIAC STAR has shaped with promise in all four starts to date and ran well on his return at Windsor in a higher-grade race when fifth. He previously ran well in both starts on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, including when just behind the 89-rated Intricacy, and has excellent claims in this on handicap debut. BAND OF STEEL won at Wolverhampton back in September and is another to consider in leg 6.
