Spirit In My Soul is respected in his hat-trick bid but preference instead goes to American Affair (best priced at 5/1) who has finished 2nd on his previous two starts. #The Jim Goldie trained three-year-old finished 2nd at Ayr over 7f in July off a mark of 68 before finishing a ½ length 2nd over the same course and distance 15 days ago off a mark of 67.

The handicapper has left American Affair unchanged off a mark of 67 in this race and he should run well once again with four places on offer.

American Affair - 0.5pts e/w @ 5/1

The Richard Fahey trained Show Me Show Me (best priced at 3/1) is 2/2 in since being fitted with a visor and he should hold strong claims of completing a hat-trick. The six-year-old won by a short head at Beverley off a mark of 69 on his penultimate start before following up by ½ length off a mark of 70 15 days ago.

Show Me Show Me now runs off a 4lb higher mark in this race which is fair and he looks the most likely winner ahead of Mersea who is 1lb wrong at the weights under a 6lb penalty.

 Show Me Show Me - 1pt @ 3/1

This looks a weak 0-65 handicap and I feel Lock The Vault (best priced at 9/2) can win this on his handicap debut. The three-year-old has improved on each of his three runs so far and he outran odds of 80/1 to finish 5th beaten only 3 ¼ lengths at Lingfield last time over 1m3½f.

Connections step Lock The Vault up in trip to 2 miles for this handicap debut and it would be disappointing if he doesn’t prove better than an opening mark of 65. The Ralph Beckett stable continue in good form operating at a 32% strike rate in the previous two weeks and he should prove hard to beat in first time blinkers.
