The exciting LORD BERTIE romped home to win by 12 lengths at Thirsk last month and he has now won two from three with his only defeat when he was beaten a length into third on debut behind Chaldean. He is clearly a very smart horse in the making and if improving again now handicapping should complete the hat-trick.

Even at the time of writing he is being heavily backed so he could turn out to be one of the gambles of the day. He is also armed with a good draw which can count for a lot around Chester. Hard to pinpoint one as the main danger but at a massive price I wouldn’t be surprised to see Holder bounce back and potentially grab a place in this.

The Solario Stakes has been won by some very promising horses down the years and STARLORE could be just that in this years renewal. This Kingman colt is obviously bred to be smart and he made a perfect start winning on debut over C&D back in July. That was a really competitive race and he stayed on well to prevail by a nose at the line.

He is sure to improve from that initial experience and looks worth siding with to make it 2-2. Churchill colt Mortlake was poor in testing ground on debut at Salisbury but left that way behind to win impressively at Leicester and that form has been franked since so he is expected to make a race of it at least.
