GYTO's Thursday Notebook Double pays 10/1.
14:30 Haydock
The well bred ELMONJED made a bright start winning on debut at Lingfield. This son of Blue Point was sent off double-figures at 11/1and despite being given a fair bit to do he ran on strongly between horses to win in good style. That visual impression was backed up by the clock (broke the juvenile track record at Lingfield) and the form has been franked since with the runner-up Havanagreattime winning earlier in the week and the fourth Invincible Molly shaping well at Windsor next time out. He looks a nice prospect and I expect him to make it a perfect 2-2 here. James Garfield colt Ingleby Archie shaped well on debut and then improved up to this trip denied just a neck at Redcar so looks the biggest danger with more to come. Finbar Furey and First Encore can both do better too so should get competitive as well.
18:05 Carlisle
Silent Move quickened up nicely to make the breakthrough at Thirsk last time and will be popular here but a 7lb penalty definitely makes life tougher and there might be value in opposing. I thought Frankel colt VICTORY SHOUT was worth siding with. He left his debut form well behind when fourth in a decent looking novice at Haydock last month and that has already produced two winners since. The runner-up Touch The Moon won readily at this track at the start of the month and even the sixth Age Of Time went in next time out at Wolverhampton. He is open to improvement and likely under positive tactics could prove hard to catch here. It is not just a two-horse race though as Night Of Thunder colt Apiarist only missed narrowly last time and if settling better could be a big player too.
