Leg 1 Selections: Big Brown Bear, Charlie Mason

BIG BROWN BEAR has placed in four of his six starts and should be capable of winning soon judged on his performances to date. On the same mark as when second at Brighton, he must enter the reckoning in the opener. As cover though, CHARLIE MASON can also be shortlisted, who has made the frame in his last four starts and Oisin Murphy will do the steering this time.

Leg 2 Selections: Poutchek

This is a good opportunity for POUTCHEK to open her account at the third time of asking, who went very close here three weeks ago when second and is sure to improve for the extra distance. Her trainer, Roger Varian, is in excellent form as well, which bodes well for her chances. She can put her experience to good use and prove hard to beat against mostly newcomers.

Leg 3 Selections: Greatest Time

GREATEST TIME ran no sort of race when beaten out of sight at Newmarket last time but his debut second is a great piece of form, as he finished half-a-length second to the 100+ rated Kolsai, who has done the form no harm since. If he can get back to that sort of performance, he must be considered as a major player. He can therefore run a big race from a handy draw in stall 5.

Leg 4 Selections: Sail On Silverbird

A competitive fillies’ event but SAIL ON SILVERBIRD was marginally beaten a neck into second when last spotted and a pound rise in the handicap seems very lenient. She has placed in three of her five career starts and should be capable of winning a race like this. Even if she doesn’t succeed, she should be good enough to at least fill the frame and get us into the next stage of the pool.

Leg 5 Selections: Lion Kingdom

LION KINGDOM has yet to succeed this year after four starts but his only previous start on the all-weather, which came at Wolverhampton, resulted with success. He beat a subsequent winner in that race, so the form has substance and the drop in trip from last time will suit. This three-year-old is drawn well stall 4 and is a pound lower than when runner-up over this trip at Newmarket. Solid place chance.

Leg 6 Selections: Maxi Boy, Zero Carbon

A difficult race to solve for leg 6 but MAXI BOY has made the frame the last twice and ran well in a deeper race than this when a one-length second at Chelmsford last-time-out. He is respected, though ZERO CARBON is unbeaten in two starts over track and trip and should make a bold bid from the front. His chances are strengthened by stall 1.
