Leg 1 Selections: Gastronomy, Khilwafy, Robusto

First and foremost, this is an extremely difficult race, so we can only hope for the best. GASTRONOMY trailed home last at York 44 days ago but did place off a higher mark, albeit on the turf, earlier in the year and wasn’t disgraced on his only previous start on the all-weather.

KHILWAFY has two course wins to his name and defied a 2Ib higher mark here back in February. He is respected, while ROBUSTO might find this easier than the race he finished third at Lingfield last time and isn’t out of this on his tapeta debut.

Leg 2 Selections: Calcutta Dream, Spirit Of Ash, Balqaa

CALCUTTA DREAM has often produced his best work at this course, in which his figures here, at this level (class 6) read 1331. This dual course-and-distance winner is 1Ib lower than when he last won, which came here, and he could get back on track in a first-time visor.

SPIRIT OF ASH comes with risks attached but has won over track and trip and she’s also included. BALQAA is back on the same mark as when she won over course-and-distance last September and could go well at a price.

Leg 3 Selections: Miaswell, Lunar Cycle

David O’Meara is doubly-representative but it should be noted Danny Tudhope has opted for the experienced MIASWELL who shaped nicely on debut when second and, with a lot more to come, this son of Gleneagles could go one better.

His stablemate and debutant LUNAR CYCLE can also be considered. She has quite an attractive pedigree and Mark Winn can take off three pounds. She could fare best of the newcomers and has to make the shortlist.

Leg 4 Selections: Polly The Rocket, Tees Warrior

I am drawn to the claims of POLLY THE POCKET who has shaped with promise in each of her three starts and will take a huge drop in grade for her handicap debut.
All of her runs to date have been in either class 3 or class 4 events and she should be able to make a bold bid with plenty more to come.

The Adrian Nicholls-trained TEES WARRIOR, another handicap debutant, also drops in grade after shaping with promise in three starts and could be competitive.

Leg 5 Selections: Dream Final

This isn’t a strong race and it should prove a straightforward opportunity for DREAM FINAL to succeed, who has shaped well in all three starts to date and could improve for the fitting of first-time blinkers. He is rated 12Ib higher than Hidden Code and should have his measure if that rating can be justified.

Leg 6 Selections: Mumcat, Blackcurrent

MUMCAT has just a sole win to her name but she has placed numerous times since off higher marks and must be considered as a lively candidate from a career-low mark.

Don’t rule out BLACKCURRENT though, who is a five-time course winner and is 3Ib below his last winning mark as well. He has been given a good chance by the assessor.
