Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action with runners at Bath, Kempton and Southwell.
14:50 Bath
The Richard Hughes trained Irrelevant (best priced at 11/10) bolted up in first time blinkers at Kempton from a solid yardstick and he should prove hard to beat under a 6lb penalty. The son of Ribchester has shown improved form since being gelded in handicaps with a 4th placed finish at Chepstow on his penultimate start.
The handicapper raised Irrelevant 9lbs for this five length victory last time but he instead runs here under a 6lb penalty. This means that he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat.
17:30 Kempton
This is a rematch between Primetime and American Tale (best priced at 11/4) from Wolverhampton on Saturday but preference goes to the latter who is 6lbs better off. The Brian Meehan trained gelding got off the mark over this course and distance on his handicap debut off a mark of 62 before finishing 5th at Newbury over 7f.
American Tale finished only ¾ length behind Primetime at Wolverhampton last time off a mark of 67 and gets to run here off the same mark rather than off his new rating of 68. This makes him 1lb “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat with Oisin Murphy taking over on board.
18:45 Southwell
This looks a competitive 0-85 handicap but preference goes to Kingmania (best priced at 8/1) who is 1/1 on the AW in her career. The James Ferguson trained five-year-old won on her stable debut over this course and distance in April off a mark of 78 before running well at Nottingham on her next start off a mark of 81.
Kingmania has finished well beaten on her latest two starts in listed company but she now drops back down into handicap company and makes only her second start on the AW in her career. She has to overcome Stall 13 in this race but she should run well with up to five places available.
