Steve Ryder is back with three tips for Saturday's horse racing action, with runners at Doncaster, Chester & Bath.
14:25 Doncaster
Last year’s winner Call Me Ginger (best priced at 7/1) has bounced back to form on his previous two starts with victories at Chester and Ascot, and he should run well off a 2lb higher mark this year.
The Jim Goldie trained seven-year-old defied odds of 20/1 to win this race off a mark of 89 last season under Amie Waugh and he runs in the race off a mark of 89 this year.
Call Me Ginger won by a short head at Chester on his penultimate start off a mark of 83 before following up at Ascot last time off a mark of 87. He won the race on soft ground last season so the ground should suit and he should run well with up to seven places available.
16:00 Bath
Delagate This Lord (best priced at 14/1) is a seven-time course winner at Bath with his previous five victories all coming over this course and distance.
The nine-year-old had been without a victory since June 2020 before dead heating on his stable debut for Robyn Brisland off a lowly mark of 58. He followed by 1 ¼ lengths on his penultimate start off a mark of 62 before finishing 6th here last time when trapped wide from a poor draw.
Delagate This Lord is well handicapped on previous form with his victory in June 2020 coming off a mark of 76 so he should still have scope in his mark of 67 and he should run well with five places on offer from Stall 5.
17:00 Chester
This looks to be between course and distance winners Divine Libra and Roman Dragon (best priced at 11/4) with preference going to the latter given his superior form at the track.
The Hugo Palmer trained four-year-old has form figures of 5112431484122 at the course with all four of those victories coming over today’s trip of 6f.
The gelding won off a mark of 79 in July under Hayley Turner before finishing 2nd by a length off a mark of 84 over 5½f.
Roman Dragon finished only a short head behind Call Me Ginger over 5½f last time off a mark of 84 and despite running here off a mark of 87 he should run well back over 6f.
