I know he hasn’t won for a while but quite a few of these have something or other to prove so MATTICE might just be worth chancing. He has been coming back down the handicap and shaped much better when fifth behind Soul Seeker at Haydock last time. Dropped a further 2lb he is looking really well handicapped again and I think he could surprise a few here.

If you look at collateral form he finished fourth over C&D back in June and had May Blossom back in seventh and that rival is 11lb worse off so shows you how much he has been dropped. Ey Up It’s Maggie is a good yardstick at this level and was back to her best winning by a nose at Ripon. A 2lb rise is fair and she will run well again. Count D’orsay was only beaten a length at Hamilton and then acquitted himself well in defeat in a good race when fifth at Chester so is also respected.
