Architect Tips shares Tote Placepot tips for Wednesday's action at Sandown and yesterday's Placepot results from Newcastle.
13:55 Sandown
Leg 1 Selections: Em Kay Jay, Harb
A competitive opener. EM JAY KAY has a consistent record on the all-weather, who has two wins to his name, and will interestingly make his turf debut here on the back of wind surgery after five months off. He could be bang there from a lenient-looking mark of 70.
HARB ran poorly at Brighton last time but the return to this trip from a 2Ib lower mark than when third under similar conditions over course-and-distance back in September will suit. He is also 5Ib lower than when last successful.
14:30 Sandown
Leg 2 Selections: Whiskey Pete
Ralph Beckett’s WHISKEY PETE couldn’t quite land the odds at Haydock last time but still remains the one to beat here. He has kept on well in each of his two starts and the form of his half-a-length second on debut at Newmarket was boosted when the winner landed a Group 3 next-time-out.
The step up in trip to a mile can see this son of Night Of Thunder put his experience to good use and potentially open his account under Rossa Ryan, or at worse, make the frame, as this race is littered with interesting debutants.
15:05 Sandown
Leg 3 Selections: Duke’s Command, The Line
DUKES COMMAND, an expensive yearling, has a stunning pedigree being related to multiple Group 1 winners, including the likes of Minding, and could be ready to inherit that pedigree with possible success on debut.
THE LINE shaped with plenty of promise on debut at Ascot when third and although he has his quirks, which transpired into being withdrawn when restless at the stalls in an engagement last time, he should progress and is one of the likeliest winners.
15:40 Sandown
Leg 4 Selections: Raadobarg, Eydon, Silver Sword
A good-quality Listed event for the fourth race.
I like the chances of RAADOBARG who has been performing consistently in defeat without success since joining George Boughey. His third at Pontefract has worked out well as he was only just behind subsequent Group 2 winner Flight Plan. He deserves a change in fortune and should be competitive.
EYDON has not been seen since finishing fourth in last year’s 2000 Guineas but that is still class form and should he return in similar form, despite the likelihood of needing the return, he has the class to run a very big race. SILVER SWORD is improving all-the-time and is worth his place in the line-up.
16:15 Sandown
Leg 5 Selections: Tango Tonight, Sly Madam
TANGO TONIGHT finished a close-up second at this course when last seen and is only a couple of pounds higher for this contest. She was also runner-up over track and trip back in September on soft ground, so she is evidently well-suited to this course.
She can go well, while the top-weight SLY MADAM, who handles all ground, acquitted herself in stronger company here last time when third and could again sneak into the picture from a handy mark.
16:50 Sandown
Leg 6 Selections: Star Ahoy, Miss Dolly Rocker
STAR AHOY has progressed with each start and he looks well treated off a mark of 80 on his handicap debut having beaten horses rated 79 and 84 last time.
He merits consideration, while MISS DOLLY ROCKER has yet to finish outside of the frame and was second in a stronger race at Chepstow when last seen. She should be bang in contention from an unchanged mark.
