Wednesday Racing Tips from Steve Ryder

Elusive Angel (best priced at 15/8) was a beaten favourite on her handicap debut last time but she had excuses that day and she should prove hard to beat in this easier race. The Harry Eustace trained three-year-old looks well handicapped off a mark of 72 based on finishing only ¾ length behind the now 82 rated Holy Fire when 2nd on debut at Kempton before finishing 3rd behind the 84 rated Johnny James at Catterick on her second start.

Elusive Angel then had a 50 day break before finishing 2nd by 1 ¼ lengths behind the 90 rated Unequal Love at Ripon on her penultimate start before finishing 3rd by 1¾ lengths on her handicap debut at Carlisle last time.

The handicapper has dropped Elusive Angel 1lb down to a mark of 72 following that run which means she can now drop in class to a 0-70 handicap here off top weight and she should prove hard to beat.

Both Romantic Style and Run For The Sun look sure to improve from their debut efforts but they may struggle to run up to the standard set by Al Hujaija (best priced at 5/1) in this race. The Roger Varian trained filly disappointed on her debut but has run consistently well on her other four starts to give her form figures of 2522 on her most recent starts.

Al Hujaija has now dropped to an official rating of 78 following her most run but that still sets the standard in this race and she is also aided by Aidan Keeley taking off a handy 3lbs. The other fillies may progress past her eventually but Al Hujaija can hopefully get off the mark at the sixth attempt.

Chindit was an impressive winner of the Group 3 Superior Mile last time at Haydock but he looks vulnerable on a softer surface and could struggle to give Knight (best priced at 5/2) 9lbs. The Simon & Ed Crisford trained three-year-old was unbeaten in his two starts last year and put in a career best performance last time when a ½ length 2nd at Goodwood last time in the Group 2 Celebration Mile behind Angel Bleu.

Connections now fit Knight with first time cheekpieces in this race and he should prove hard to beat under James Doyle in receipt of the weight allowance from his elders.
