16:35 Ayr

The Jim Goldie trained AYR POET (best priced at 13/2) has shown consistently good form at this course so far this season and he should hold strong claims once again. The eight-year-old has form figures of 622113 here this season including a latest victory off a mark of 63 in August. Since that victory, the gelding has finished 3rd here off a mark of 68 before finishing 2nd by 1¼ lengths at Carlisle last time off a mark of 66.

Ayr Poet runs here off the same mark but could go one better on his return to this track with bookmakers offering up to five places on this race.

This looks a competitive 0-105 handicap but preference goes to GOOD IMPRESSION (best priced at 2/1) who won over this course and distance on his previous start. The Bernard Llewellyn trained eight-year-old has a fantastic record at this course with form figures of 211 although he does have to prove himself on this testing ground.

Good Impression won by 1¾ lengths over this course and distance 20 days ago off a mark of 88 and the handicapper has raised him 4lbs which is fair.  Many of these runners are struggling for form so he looks the most dependable and he should prove hard to beat.

The unbeaten Primeval will no doubt prove popular with punters but preference instead goes to WILD SIDE (best priced at 8/1) who had excuses for her poor performance at Newmarket last time. The George Boughey trained three-year-old had form figures of 2111 for far this season with victories at Yarmouth, Catterick and Redcar.

Wild Side disappointed at Newmarket when sent off 7/4 favourite last time but she finished lame that day and has had 85 days off since. William Buick retains the ride and she should run well off top weight.
