GYTO's Saturday Notebook Double pays 14/1.
14:30 Curragh
Aidan O’Brien saddles half the field so you probably think I’m mad taking him on but I do like the chances of STROMBERG for Joseph. This colt hasn’t looked back since a promising debut run winning by 10 lengths at Galway and then following up by 7 lengths at Roscommon last time. He did it so easily last time and with confidence high I think he can complete the hat-trick with the step up to a mile looking ideal. He has shown a useful turn of foot in testing ground so any rain won’t bother him and I think he is the most likely winner. Frankie Dettori is over to ride Navy Seal so he might turn out to be the biggest danger. He took his form up a notch to win at Galway last month and will improve so should run well. Grosvenor Square also has untapped potential and is feared as well.
16:55 York
The money came for SOLUTION again at Lingfield last time and he made no mistake under Rossa Ryan. I loved the way he moved into it strongly from off the pace and there was a classy way about how he put it to bed. He has really come into his own since his stamina has been drawn out under patient tactics and a further 4lb rise looks manageable so the hat-trick beckons. Marbuzet is also thriving and won head in chest at Musselburgh last time so looks the obvious danger despite a 6lb rise leaving him on a career high mark now. Mostly Sunny was nibbled at in the market before finishing down the field at Southwell last time. He has only been dropped 1lb but his run at York before that behind Forza Orta was decent so if bouncing back he might be worth an each way saver.
