After getting within a neck of victory at Yarmouth earlier on in the season it was good to see MIDNIGHT LIR make the most of a good opportunity bolting up at Beverley last month. He has been beaten twice since but went down a length to an improver in Batal Zabeel on penultimate start and then was pitched into a decent race at Chester last time where he was nearest finish after giving some ground away early. This is easier and I think he could still improve so at around 10/3 at the time of writing that looks a good bet. Sankari has won over C&D in the past and looks the danger. Chumbaa could also show up well for a long way but does have a little to prove at present.

Despite being weak in the betting I think SAN FRANCISCO BAY could go close here. He has won 2 of his last 3 now and was impressive for the grade justifying favouritism at Lingfield when last seen. The cheekpieces have been left off and he could still step forward again back on turf so I’m confident of a big run despite a 7lb higher mark. 6f looks his optimum and I’m not sure why he has drifted so much in the betting since last night. Albert Cee has been backed but for me he finds a way to get beat and I’d be a bit cautious about his attitude. Thornaby Pearl has been running over the minimum so needs this step back up in trip to see him bounce back to his best to get involved.
