Leg 1 Selections: Chifa, Ravenglass, Flatley

With a great course-and-distance record that reads 11411,CHIFA has to be taken seriously back at his favourite venue, and is therefore worthy of inclusion in the opener.

RAVENGLASS came close to winning his only previous start at this course and is 3Ib below his last successful mark so is feared, while last year’s winner FLATLEY boasts a course-record of 2215 and can operate from a 5Ib lower mark in his defence bid.

Leg 2 Selections: Polly The Rocket, Diddy Man

Not the strongest of Nursery events in the world and POLLY THE ROCKET appeals back up in distance. She didn’t appear to lack for stamina when sixth behind Loose Cannon at York in her only previous go at the trip in a class 3 and rallied well for third last time at Newcastle over shorter. She commands respect at this level, though DIDDY MAN produced a very good second at Kempton a week ago and merits consideration.

Leg 3 Selections: Nezeeh, High Dreams

Saeed Bin Suroor’s strike-rate here is categorically exceptional (26%) and impressive Thirsk debutant winner NEZEEH, who looked professional in winning by more than three lengths, could prove hard to beat under Oisin Murphy.

He isn’t drawn well but his class might just overshadow that, so he is fancied to go close. HIGH DREAMS is the other one to note for the James Tate team on debut and could turn out to be quite useful.

Leg 4 Selections: Red Walls, Suanni

RED WALLS hasn’t won since scoring here last April but that win was off a mark of 60 and this three-time course-and-distance winner is down to a career-low mark of 46. He can never be discounted when he competes here.

Meanwhile SUANNI was only beaten about a length when fourth here last time and won over course-and-distance last November off an 11Ib higher mark. He can make a serious impact from a good draw in stall 2.

Leg 5 Selections: Under Curfew, White Umbrella

In this open race, UNDER CURFEW has been remarkably consistent in defeat this year, placing seven times, which have all come off higher marks. He was a close-up third here on his penultimate start and the return to this trip with Oisin Murphy booked to ride should see him in the firing line.

WHITE UMBRELLA has run very well in all of her last three starts at this course and also has to enter calculations with plenty more to come.

Leg 6 Selections: Chinese Whisperer, Rumnotred

Harriet Bethell’s record here reads 7-35 (20%) and therefore CHINESE WHISPERER is undoubtedly one to consider. The six-year-old has course-winning form and came close to cashing-in on his reduced mark at Newcastle last time when third.

He is back up a couple of more pounds but rates one of the likeliest winners and goes on the shortlist. RUMNOTRED, however, could improve for the fitting of first-time cheekpieces and might outrun his odds from a handy stall 5 slot.
