16:15 Worcester

The dark nights and cold temperatures will be drawing in soon and the Jumps will be in full swing before we know it. There is a good card at Worcester on Thursday and DOUGHMORE BAY looks a novice hurdle to keep on side for now. He was given a patient ride on hurdles debut over 2 and a half miles here back in May and I liked the way he moved through the race before asserting at the finish.

He stayed on well suggesting this step up to nearly 3 miles will suit and he should be able to follow up. Ikarak is held by the selection on that last run and again finished second here last month. He will likely run well again but needs more to reverse that. Kick Up A Storm should do better for the experience.

The money came for the improving TURQUOISE DIAMOND at Brighton and this Dubawi filly made no mistake getting on top in good style to reverse form with Moondial. That has been franked by the third Major Gatsby who has won since and then of course the selection herself followed up at Newcastle last time.

She seemed to need every yard of the 7f on that occasion so going up to a mile now should be a catalyst for further progression. She is only 3lb higher and with Tom Marquand back in the saddle looks sure to run well once more. Leadenhall won well at Haydock back in August and then only went down half a length at Newmarket. That wasn’t the best ride but at the same time he doesn’t look straightforward.
