Steve Ryder is back with three tips from today's action.
14:15 Leicester
Macho Sun is interesting in first time cheekpieces but preference goes to the consistent KAMANIKA (best priced at 5/2) who won over this course and distance in June. The Joe Parr trained filly has been running well in handicaps all season with victories at Nottingham, Leicester and Sandown and placed efforts at Lingfield and Newmarket.
Kamanika won by ¾ length last time at Sandown on soft ground off a mark of 67 and a 2lb rise seems lenient. She is off a career high mark of 69 in this race but still looks progressive and she can hopefully make it 2/2 at Leicester in her career.
17:00 Huntingdon
This looks a competitive 0-115 handicap hurdle but preference goes to ENTHUSED (best priced at 3/1) who has won three out of his previous four starts. The James Owen trained six-year-old won twice at Uttoxeter off marks of 107 and 112 before slightly disappointing in a Class 2 handicap at Market Rasen on his next start.
Enthused bounced back to form with a ¾ length victory at Ludlow on Wednesday in a conditional jockeys’ race so he escapes a penalty in this race. Alex Chadwick has a good record on Enthused and the pair team up again in this race and he should prove hard to beat.
18:30 Newcastle
This looks to be between the two recent course and distance winners Mr Heinz and POP FAVOURITE (best priced at 9/2) with preference going to the latter. The Scott Dixon trained five-year-old has a consistent record at Newcastle with form figures of 4185313141 including a victory here 15 days ago off a mark of 51.
Pop Favourite won by a length that day despite racing keenly in the early stages and hopefully Kieran O’Neill, who rode him to win over this course and distance in August, can settle him better than Elisha Whittington. He is only 3lbs higher in this race and should hold strong claims of winning for a fifth time over this course and distance.
