Spirit Of Ash is 1lb wrong at the weights under a 5lb penalty so preference goes to ARTISAN DANCER (best priced at 2/1) who was unlucky not to complete a four-timer last time at this course. The Charlie Johnston trained three-year-old has a good record on the AW with form figures of 21116 with his latest run upgraded as he was badly hampered in the final furlong of the race when making headway.

Artisan Dancer can be excused that run so he looks to hold strong claims off the same mark and back up in trip to 2 miles in this race. Oli Stammers has a good record on the gelding and the pair should get back to winning ways in this race.

The Olly Williams trained FOURSOME (best priced at 5/2) won for the first time in her 23 race career last time at Nottingham on heavy ground but she will prove hard to beat in this race if in the same form under similar conditions. The four-year-old finished 3rd at Thirsk on soft ground on her penultimate start off a mark of 46 before winning easily by 5 ½ lengths at Nottingham last time in an apprentice handicap.

The handicapper has raised Foursome 8lbs up to a mark of 54 but she instead runs here off a mark of 46 meaning that she is 8lbs “well in” at the weights. She handles testing conditions well and she should prove hard to beat if in the same form for Alice Keighley.
