Leg 1 Selections: Cusack

CUSACK is a three-time course winner and won over track and trip last month. He has recently performed very well when fourth off only a pound lower mark here in a higher-grade race and is back down in grade from a mark that isn't without range. With his excellent course form taken into consideration, the top-weight makes plenty of appeal.

Leg 2 Selections: Yasmin From York

Not the easiest of races to assess, so I’ll go with the bottom-weight YASMIN FROM YORK who can operate from a pound lower mark than when last successful and has mostly been solid in defeat since. She ran nicely to take third in her only previous start at this course when third and while she is the lowest rated in the field, she cannot be ruled out.

Leg 3 Selections: Last Applause

Strutting ran very well when second at Newmarket last time but that form has yet to be truly tested and it’s far from guaranteed that it will work out well. Moreover, I think she has a tough opponent to overcome in the shape of LAST APPLAUSE who was unlucky not to win on debut here when third. She comfortably went one better over this trip last time though and form-wise she should be shorter in the market.

Leg 4 Selections: Louella

LOUELLA has shown progression in all starts to date and has now placed in her last three outings plus she was only beaten a short-head at Catterick last time when second. This will be her first start on the surface but if she acts on it then she could find the necessary improvement to get off the mark. Good chance.

Leg 5 Selections: Elliott

A wide-open contest but ELLIOTT came very close to making a winning handicap debut last time when third and is likely to step forward again here, especially now returned to a longer distance. Paul Mulrennan maintains the ride and his mount should be thereabouts in his second crack at this basement level.

Leg 6 Selections: Moon Flight

I cannot comprehend how Ribble Rouser is favourite, who was well beaten last time and his rating of 77 is inflated. Instead, I would much rather take a chance on MOON FLIGHT who should be happier returning to this longer trip after only finishing fourth here last time. His debut fourth is a strong piece of form.
