Tuesday Racing Tips from Steve Ryder

The reopposing Aqwaam and Sharp Distinction head the market in this 0-75 handicap but I prefer the chances of Lunar Shadow (best priced at 4/1) who arrives in good form. The Alan King trained five-year-old won at Bath over 1m5f in August off a mark of 60 before finishing 4th over hurdles at Southwell on her next start. She won by a length over this course and distance a month ago off a mark of 63 leading for the final 6f of the 1m6f contest.

Lunar Shadow can probably repeat those forward going tactics in this small field under Rossa Ryan and she should hold strong claims off only a 5lb higher mark. 

This looks a competitive 0-88 handicap but preference goes to Lucky Fifteen (best priced at 9/4) who can be excused his latest effort on soft ground. The Ralph Beckett trained three-year-old has form figures of 21115 in handicaps with his second handicap victory coming on the AW at Chelmsford. His victories came off marks of 67, 73 and 78 before disappointing when sent off 6/4 favourite for a handicap at Goodwood on soft ground off a mark of 85. 

Lucky Fifteen returns to the AW now off the same mark and should prove hard to beat with Rossa Ryan taking over on board.

The favourite Sydney Bay beat the reopposing Blackcurrent (best priced at 11/2) by ¾ length over this course and distance a week ago and is 5lb better off in this race. The Alan Brown trained seven-year-old is a six-time course winner with a further two runner-up efforts this year. The gelding has been in consistent form since a mid-season break with form figures of 32122 with his previous three starts all coming at Newcastle.

Blackcurrent won by a neck over this course and distance off a mark of 47 in September before finishing 2nd by ½ length over 5f later that month. He was only beaten ¾ length when 2nd over 6f here a week ago off a mark of 50 and he gets to run here off the same mark in this race. Bookmakers are offering four places on the race and he looks sure to be involved in the finish.
