The winner of the Elite Hurdle on this card last year, KNAPPERS HILL sets a lofty standard and there should be plenty of improvement forthcoming after a promising second on his chase debut at Chepstow last month. The son of Valirann is two from three around here and he should have too much for the Irish raider Captain Conby, who was no match for the veteran Sharjah at Tipperary last time. A taking winner of both starts over hurdles at Chepstow, Doyen Star could be anything in this sphere and must also be considered.

Last year's impressive winner Frodon is bound to have his supporters as he goes in search of a remarkable 20th career win, but he's 11 now and with the ground more testing than ideal, he may be worth taking on. Stablemate Threeunderthrufive looks a viable alternative after wind surgery, but preference is for Dan Skelton's ASHTOWN LAD. The nine-year-old has gone well fresh in the past and showed his class last season when winning the Becher Chase from just 4lb lower.

Paul Nicholls' Rubaud is likely to be all the rage after a winning reappearance but he still needs to prove himself on ground this testing and the concession of 6lb to one of his former victims, HANSARD, may just prove too much. Gary Moore's charge never fired when sent off favourite for their previous clash at Kempton in February but he proved that running to be all wrong when a close fourth in a Grade 1 event at Aintree in the spring. Sacre Coeur is the pick of the remainder.

Joe Tizzard's charge struggled to land a blow in Listed company on her most recent start at Cheltenham in April but she can get back to winning ways now eased in grade. After a decisive success over C&D last time, Lime Avenue can give the selection most to think about on her handicap bow, while Plenty Of Time is also worthy of a close look.

BASKERVILLE made a very pleasing start to his career over 2m at Stratford in August and plenty of improvement can be expected from Alan King's gelding. The four-year-old was beaten just half a length on that occasion and a repeat of that effort would see him on the scene here. The well-related Roman Roy is feared most for the powerful combination of Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden, while Horaces Pearl looks primed to follow them home.
