Architect Tips shares Tote Placepot tips for Thursday's action at Musselburgh and yesterday's Placepot results from Kelso.
11:55 Musselburgh
Leg 1 Selections: Ottizzini
OTTIZZINI will find this much easier than the Grade 3 she contested at Down Royal last time and had previously impressed in winning at Downpatrick.
She has been competing in good races over timber, and connections have found her an excellent chance to get back on the scoresheet. Even if she doesn’t win, she should, at the very least, make the frame.
12:25 Musselburgh
Leg 2 Selections: Three Yorkshiremen, Leap Year Lad
THREE YORKSHIREMEN was just about the best of these on the level, and he is an interesting participant in his hurdles debut. He could go very close with a sufficient round of jumping.
However, LEAP YEAR LAD also did well on the flat, and the fact that Kevin Ryan has booked Brian Hughes to ride suggests he means business.
13:00 Musselburgh
Leg 3 Selections: Garde Des Champs, Restandbethankful
GARDE DES CHAMPS remains high in the handicap compared to his last win, but he runs more good races than most and should again be thereabouts despite his big weight.
RESTANDBETHANKFUL is eight pounds above his last winning mark but acquitted himself well in a much deeper race at this course last time and should run well.
13:35 Musselburgh
Leg 4 Selections: Autumn Return, Never No Trouble
AUTUMN RETURN found one too good at Kelso last time, but this looks no harder, and his previous win at Perth reads well, as does his fourth at Kelso back in March.
A bold effort is anticipated from the top-weight, while NEVER NO TROUBLE has hit the frame in all of her last seven starts over hurdles and was marginally denied at Hereford last time off this exact mark.
14:10 Musselburgh
Leg 5 Selections: Lihyan, Scots Poet
LIHYAN could run well at large odds. The form of his latest fifth at Ayr has worked out well, with the winner going in again since, and he could figure off his reduced mark.
SCOTS POET has winning form over C&D and finished second in a hotter race here last time. A repeat of that performance could see the seven-year-old take the spoils.
14:45 Musselburgh
Leg 6 Selections: Magna Sam, Half Shot
This trip is no doubt on the short side for MAGNA SAM but the top-weight ran really well to finish fifth in the Scottish Grand National when last spotted, which was a career-best effort in defeat. He is unbeaten in three starts here and won the Edinburgh National here two starts ago.
This is easier, so if he is fully wound up ahead of his return, he must have a sound chance of maintaining his unbeaten record at his favourite venue. HALF SHOT also has a good record at this place and can emerge as the main threat.
