Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
13:30 Lingfield
Torvar is the only previous winner in the field but he may struggle to give weight away to VIA BLANCA (best priced at 6/1) who outran odds of 18/1 to finish 2nd on her handicap debut last time. The Amy Murphy trained filly had previously struggled in her first three runs in novice/maiden races but put in a huge career best last time at Chelmsford when 2nd by ½ length off an opening mark of 51.
The handicapper has raised Via Blanca 2lbs for that effort up to a mark of 53 but she shaped like this drop back in trip to the minimum distance of 5f would suit. Ryan Kavanagh takes off a handy 7lbs and she should run well from Stall 4.

Light Speed is interesting on his handicap debut but preference instead goes to TIGER BEETLE (best priced at 8/1) who has bounced back to form since returning from a 64 day break recently. The Mark Rimell trained five-year-old won at Wolverhampton in October by 2 ½ lengths off a mark of 63 before defying a 9lb rise to follow up at the same course by a neck on his next start. He then finished 3rd over this course and distance last time off a mark of 75 when only beaten 1 ½ lengths and he should hold strong claims off the same mark.
Rob Hornby is 2/2 on Tiger Beetle so the fact he is back on board is a positive and I would be disappointed if he isn’t involved in the finish.
19:30 Wolverhampton
This looks a weak 0-62 handicap and preference goes to the top weight WHATWOULDYOUKNOW (best priced at 9/4) who arrives having won over this course and distance last time. The Nigel Tinkler trained eight-year-old is a six-time course and distance in his career who has found a bit of consistency since needing his return for a 249 day break.
Whatwouldyouknow finished 2nd at Newcastle on his penultimate start but won by ¾ length last time at the same course off a mark of 60. The handicapper has only raised him 2lbs for that victory up to a mark of 62 and he should hold strong claims in this race with Faye McManoman once again taking the ride.
