Leg 1 Selections: Bold Style, Space Legend

After shaping with promise when second on debut at Wolverhampton, along with his trainer Charlie Appleby’s 27% strike rate taken into consideration, BOLD STYLE is the obvious first choice with more to offer. SPACE LEGEND, a son of Sea The Stars, is the most notable newcomer and is played as a cover.

Leg 2 Selections: Habrdi

Alfred and HABRDI go in search of a hat-trick of wins, but the latter interests me more. Jane Chapple-Hyam’s improving youngster beat an 82-rated horse by four lengths at Wolverhampton last time out and clearly has more to come on that evidence. He can get the better of George Boughey’s charge.

Leg 3 Selections: Lord Normandy, Prometeo

There was a lot to like about the way LORD NORMANDY conducted himself on his debut, where he made a bold bid from the front. He could only muster third in the end, but with that experience under his belt, he’s a major player. Of the rest, PROMETEO has made the frame in all three starts to date and should again be thereabouts.

Leg 4 Selections: Storm Catcher, Polling Day

STORM CATCHER has an excellent record over C&D at either this level or lower, with three wins from three starts. He won with plenty to spare at Lingfield last time at this level, and the top weight is the one to beat. POLLING DAY lost his unbeaten record when fourth on his return but didn’t go down without a fight and is shortlisted

Leg 5 Selections: Headingley, Clipsham Gold

HEADINGLEY should be able to capitalise on this low mark soon. All of his wins and placed efforts have come off higher marks at a higher level, including at this course, so the top-weight must be respected. CLIPSHAM GOLD is only a pound higher than when she last got her head in front and could run well.

Leg 6 Selections: Tacarib Bay, Batemans Bay, Lord Bertie

TACARIB BAY is the class act in the field and was last seen winning a listed race. He is very consistent and solid, and he should run his usual honest race despite his big weight. BATEMANS BAY has also been highly-tried in his career and could run well at a price, while LORD BERTIE is another to consider.
