Irish point winner STEP ABOVE should prove hard to beat here if improving again. He has looked to need the experience the last twice over fences but didn’t run badly chasing home Autonomous Cloud at Uttoxeter in testing ground last time. The handicapper has dropped him another 2lb and this looks winnable so I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t go close.
He has the size and scope to do well in this sphere and with the blinkers on should run well. Southern Sam is the closest rival in the betting and is the likely danger. He did look one paced when third at Wetherby last month but that isn’t bad form so he should be bang there again. Rouge De L’quest best of the rest.

In a very winnable race the only last time out winner in the field CRAFTER looks the one to be on. He came with a strong run to get up in the closing stages over C&D last time and a repeat of that would likely see him follow up. That visual impression was backed up by the clock last time too so everything suggests he will take a lot of beating.
Shaheen Saqaar was a good third at Chelmsford but blew out at Lingfield so will need to bounce back to be the danger. Havana Goldrush also ran well on penultimate start before struggling behind the selection last time so has ground to make up and it looks a tough enough task.
