Following a 3/1 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back two tips for today's racing action.

Without all bookmakers offering odds on the ‘place/without/insurebet’ markets at this time, I am recommending backing MONTY’S STAR (best priced at 3/1) each way in this race but I wouldn’t put anyone off using the alternative markets instead. The Henry De Bromhead trained six-year-old was one of my horses to follow for the season and I was highly encouraged by his chasing debut at Fairyhouse earlier this month when he had the reopposing Three Card Brag 2 ½ lengths ahead in 2nd.
Previously, Monty’s Star had beaten his better fancied stablemate Hiddenvalley Lake at Clonmel in the Grade 3 Mercedes Benz Novice Hurdle over 3 miles so it was no surprise to see him outpaced over the 2m5f trip on his chasing debut. It was also notable how much he drifted that day out to an SP of 10/1 so I would imagine he will have improved fitness wise for that comeback. Corbetts Cross ran well to finish 2nd in the Neville Hotels Novice Chase on Friday to boost that form and I see this as a match race with Digby having over a stone to find on all known form.

Base Note has run well on his latest two AW starts since a break but TYRRHENIAN SEA (best priced at 11/4) has put in his best two performances over this course and distance and can record a much-deserved victory. The Roger Varian trained five-year-old finished 2nd behind Lord North in the Group 3 Winter Derby over this course and distance in February before finishing a head 2nd over this course and distance last time in the listed Churchill Stakes.
Tyrrhenian Sea only finished a head behind Blue Trail that day with the pair pulling 1 ¼ lengths clear of Forest Of Dean in third and a repeat of that effort will see him go close in this listed race. Jack Mitchell takes over on board who rode him to victory as a two-year-old and he should run well from Stall 6.
