To his great credit, however, he almost pulled off an unlikely victory with a powerful late surge and had he not been forced to challenge up the inside (never much future going down that route here), he may have overhauled the eventual winner Blue Trial, who had the benefit of running down the middle of the track.
Based on that excellent effort 43 days ago, the son of Dark Angel is clearly much more at home racing on a synthetic surface and in a race that that should be more strongly run courtesy of Youthful King being in the field, a cleaner break should see him extremely hard to beat on his return to the Surrey venue.
