A big field for this but CLOVIS BOY must be the one to beat. He left previous efforts miles behind to open his account at Hexham back in November. He found plenty off the bridle that day in tough conditions and was strong through the line. He is still unexposed over this trip and on what is just his sixth start and only third in a handicap he looks capable of defying a 5lb rise. Ambush Annie is down the bottom of the weights and would be a danger if building on that third at this track last time. She was well backed that day and could still have more to come. Beat The Retreat has confidence high after winning last month and is another one that must enter calculations.

That debut run from INNER TEMPLE was eye-catching and while it was a bit disappointing that he couldn’t open his account when well backed last time this step up to 7f could see him go a couple better. He just looked a bit tapped for toe last time so I can see him relishing this extra furlong. He retains potential and it wouldn’t surprise me if he is a bit of a gamble here. Le Geyt represents flashy connections but I’d be concerned with how he dropped to third over this trip at Kempton last time. He looks a bit one paced and might prove vulnerable again in the closing stages. Alreet Cha shaped well beaten just a couple of lengths at Newcastle and might pose a greater threat.
