Cheltenham Gold Cup 2024

We now have the early entries for the three feature Grade 1 Chases at Cheltenham 2024; the Queen Mother Champion Chase, the Ryanair Chase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

El Fabiolo (10/11 on Betfred) heads 19 entered for the Champion Chase and Allaho is the pick of 32 in the Ryanair Chase, while there is a round 20 entered in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

 

Cheltenham Gold Cup Entries

Bravemansgame (25/1 on BetVictor) has been entered in the Festival's blue riband event having passed up a golden opportunity to win the King George on Boxing Day after a fall second from the last for race leader Shishkin (12/1 to win the Gold Cup).

The surprise winner at Kempton also has an entry. Hewick is a 20/1 chance having upset the odds to win the King George despite being matched at nearly 550/1 in-running on Betfair.

The clear market leader remains Galopin Des Champs (5/4 on BetMGM), who produced a scintillating performance to win the Savills Chase last Thursday (RPR now 184).

Galopin Des Champs was, however, denied the opportunity to reverse the form on Punchestown Gold Cup and John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase winner Fastorslow (5/1 on Paddy Power), after connections opted against running him at Leopardstown due to the testing ground.

Despite the withdrawal of Martin Brassil's charge, the extended three-mile Savills was still expected to produce a battle between Galopin Des Champs and Gerri Colombe, yet the former romped to a 23-length win. Gordon Elliott’s Gerri Colombe is now 11/1 on Unibet to win the Gold Cup in March.

Elsewhere, Nassalam (40/1 on Paddy Power) is an intriguing contender for Gary Moore having won the Welsh National at Chepstow by an eye watering 34 lengths less than a week ago.

Notable omissions on the entry list for the Cheltenham Gold Cup include 2022 winner A Plus Tard (sixth of eight in the Savills), who had slipped to 100/1 in the ante-post betting having been 33/1 with most bookmakers in the build-up to Christmas.
