GYTO's Saturday Notebook Double pays 12/1.
12:20 Wincanton
Lord Of Thunder was obviously quite impressive winning at this track last month but then so was HEROS DE ROMAY at Chepstow. The latter still looked a big baby on that occasion but you’d have to love the way he kept finding more off the bridle and I thought he was value for more than the winning margin. The runner-up Livin On Luco was in the process of running a big race before falling 3 out next time out and the third Minella Blueway has won since so the form is stacking up. The selection is open to plenty of improvement on what is just his second start over hurdles and he might be good enough to upset the favourite.
12:30 Newcastle
Another race where I am opposing the favourite as FINDTHETIME looks decent value. This son of Shantou bounced back emphatically to open his account over fences at Wetherby back in November. I thought he beat a good horse on that occasion in Inedit Star and even the third Nells Son had won impressively heading into that and was some 16 lengths back. I know he wasn’t as good as Doncaster last time but he had excuses that day being held up and also getting hampered. If back on song here he could take a lot of beating. Gardener bolted up at Southwell last month but he has been slammed with a 10lb rise.
