The son of Jet Away can capitalise on this drop in grade to record his second career victory. Last-time-out winner Word Has It could also put in a bold show.

DIAMOND RI finished 21 lengths clear of the third when only finding subsequent Grade 2 runner-up Insurrection too good on his debut over hurdles at Exeter. The son of Diamond Boy would have learned a great deal from that experience and, with normal progression, he can go one better. Tedley sets the standard in the contest with a rating of 116 after his second in heavy conditions at Ffos Las last month and is expected to be in the mix, while Mahland could take a step forward from his debut fifth at Chepstow to get closer.

Mel Monroe is an interesting raider for Gordon Elliott, with the six-year-old boasting a consistent level of form in novice company, including when chasing home stable companion Croke Park in a Grade 3 at Navan. The vote, though, goes to the hat-trick seeking KYNTARA. A change of scenery appears to have revitalised him and his recent victory at Aintree suggested he could have more in the locker. Kempton scorer Martha Brae and 2022 Pertemps Final hero Third Wind, who makes his first appearance since that success, appeal most of the remainder.

Broadway Boy has vastly improved his form over fences and arrives following a brace of victories at Cheltenham. His most recent success came in handicap company but the form of those contests can be questioned, in particular his November victory, and he is passed over in favour of APPLE AWAY. Lucinda Russell's Grade 1 winner benefited hugely from her chasing-debut third behind Grey Dawning at Haydock when sauntering to an easy victory at Leicester, and the return to 3m is another big positive. Grey Dawning may have won barring an error at Cheltenham last month, but there is a question mark whether 3m is his ideal trip at present.

MALINA GIRL was an impressive winner of a competitive event at Cheltenham and was then travelling well back at the same venue when falling three out. She remains on the same mark and has Conor Stone-Walsh's 5lb claim to her advantage once again. Guetapan Collonges has continued to improve over fences and finished third to the selection in November. Fourth in this contest 12 months ago, he arrives with more experience under his belt and has to be respected. Beauport, Fontaine Collonges and Major Dundee are others with viable claims.

CEPAGE was an impressive winner over 2m4f at Cheltenham a month ago and Venetia Williams' 12-year-old is hard to oppose on the back of that performance, despite a 6lb rise in the ratings. Lord Du Mesnil chased home the selection on that occasion and could get closer on 7lb better terms. The hat-trick seeking Good Boy Bobby is another with strong form claims, while Ramses De Teillee and Thomas Darby are others to note.
