SURPRISE PICTURE (best price 7/2) was agonisingly touched off in the closing stages here four days ago after bidding to lead all the way, but it was a performance that suggested he is back in decent shape again and worth another attempt dropping down to his optimum trip.
Although he doesn’t always make the running, some of his best efforts have come when he’s obtained an uncontested lead and for nine tenths of the extended mile journey on Friday night, it looked like he was going to score for the first time over that trip. However, he just succumbed to a stronger stayer in the shape of in-form Asgard’s Captain, but he did at least leave with his medals blazing on his chest and, more importantly, with a smart time figure pinned as a rosette on the other side.
Nicely draw in stall 6, a good break should see him where he wants to be early and hopefully in front where it matters most.
