13:50 Lingfield

This looks a competitive race but preference goes to FRERO BANBOU (best priced at 11/4) who won this race in 2022. The Venetia Williams trained nine-year-old has been consistently well this season with form figures of 3232 over intermediate trips shaping like this drop back down to 2 miles would suit. He finished 3rd in the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham behind Fugitif before finishing 2nd behind Shakem Up’Arry in the New Year’s Day Chase at the same course.

Frero Banbou runs in this race off a mark of 136 which is only 2lbs higher than winning this race two years ago (last year was abandoned) and he should hold strong claims.

15:35 Lingfield

The Gary Moore trained MOVETHECHAINS (best priced at 9/1) has a fantastic record at Lingfield and hopefully the return this track will mean he bounces back to form. The ten-year-old has recent form figures of P83U but as a result he has dropped down from a mark of 127 to 115. His form figures at Lingfield are 11112 with his only defeat coming off a mark of 127.

With that course form and the drop in ratings, Movethechains looks sure to run well with bookmakers offering up to five places on the race.

Movethechains - 0.5pts e/w @ 9/1

19:45 Chelmsford

Cotai Vision has been running well in defeat but a chance is taken on THE LIEGEMAN (best priced at 9/2) in first time cheekpieces. The Archie Watson trained three-year-old has shown improved form since switching to handicap company with form figures of 312. He won on his penultimate start at Lingfield by 1 ¾ lengths off a mark of 63 before finishing 2nd by ¾ length at Wolverhampton off a mark of 70 on Boxing Day.

The Liegeman hung left-handed that day so the application of first time cheekpieces will hopefully mean his concentration in a finish is improved and he should run well with Josh Bryan once again on board.

The Liegeman - 0.5pts e/w @ 9/2
