Immortal looks a vulnerable favourite given his two efforts this season so it looks worth taking a chance on KANSAS CITY STAR (best priced at 11/4) on his stable debut for Harry Derham. The seven-year-old finished placed in five of his eight starts over hurdles when trained by Gordon Elliott before disappointing at Cheltenham in October off a mark of 122.

Kansas City Star makes his stable debut in a novice handicap chase off a mark of 115 and he also drops in trip to 2 miles for the first time since December 2022. The yard remains in good form with two winners from the previous five runners (40%) and hopefully a stable switch means can get off the mark under rules having won his only PTP start for Colin Bowe.

Jeremys Flame won this last year for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue and BRIDES HILL (best priced at 8/11) looks to hold strong claims of repeating that success. The stable are 7/27 over fences in the UK this season as well as being 2/3 at Huntingdon in his training career. The seven-year-old was sent off 11/10 to beat Pink Legend at Perth in April before falling at the first in that race.

Brides Hill has won both of her starts this season at Listowel and Fairyhouse and is deserving of her rating of 150. She is in receipt of 2lbs from Pink Legend despite being rated 8lbs higher and she should prove hard to beat granted a clear round.

The favourite The Gay Blade is expected to struggle dropped down to 5f so the obvious each way alternative appears to be URBAN DANDY (best priced at 4/1). The Tony Coyle trained four-year-old has been running consistently well for the past year on the AW with form figures of 1715544332 including a course and distance victory in March off a mark of 57. He returned from a 53 day break to finish 3rd beaten 1 ¼ lengths over 6f at Southwell on his penultimate start before finishing 2nd by ½ length over this course and distance last time in first time blinkers.

The handicapper has raised Urban Dandy 1lbs for that run but he instead runs here once again off a mark of 56 meaning he is 1lb “well in” at the weights. It is a shame that there are only seven runners but he looks the most likely danger to the favourite and should run well.
