After winning a bumper impressively ICARE DESBOIS failed to fire on hurdles debut pulling up at this track having never really travelled. He was quickly back on track however chasing home King Of Kingsfield and Mirazur West at Leopardstown on Boxing Day and with further improvement to come should be able to open his account in this sphere now. He can jump slicker and is obviously open to further improvement and this looks a decent opportunity. Butcher Hollow has shaped with promise on both starts over hurdles and looks the obvious danger if finding further progress. Nas Na Riogh improved to chase home Dancing City at Navan last month and is another one to consider.

For his age SOUTHERN SAM remains lightly raced and it was good to see him back in the winners enclosure at Haydock last month. He kept finding more to hold on from Gold Emery and that pair pulled a country mile clear from the rest. He has only been nudged up 3lb for that narrow win and this horse just seems to gallop all day so this is a good opportunity for him to follow up and strike again while the iron is hot. Gold Clermont impressed winning easily at Fakenham but then completely blew out at Plumpton so needs to bounce back to have a say. Blame The Game is coming back down the weights and might end up posing a greater threat to the selection.
