I can see COUNTRY LADY taking a bit of beating here. This mare by Kapgarde has shaped with promise on both starts over hurdles so far finishing behind the right two horses at this track last time. She drops back in trip slightly for her handicap debut and it would be no surprise to see her improve again and open her account in this sphere. The yard are going well and jockey Freddie Gingell has had a couple of winners recently too. French import Nordic Tiger hasn’t run badly the last twice and he is handicapped to have a say in this so don’t write him off completely. The Plimsoll Line is another one expected to get competitive at least.

The way INSPIRITUS was strong through the line at Wolverhampton I expect him to relish the step up to a mile and a quarter here for the first time. That was his handicap debut latest and he proved an opening mark of just 78 was lenient. That visual impression was backed up by the clock too and he clocked some decent closing sectionals. With further improvement to come he should be able to defy a 4lb rise in the weights. Outgun is still a maiden but he only went down half a length at Wolverhampton last time and should be winning a race soon so looks the danger. Wadacre Gomez blew out last time but is better than that. Enough to prove though so passed over here.
