The presence of Red Treasure in this race forces four of the eight runners out of the handicap and that will favour BRUNELLO BREEZE (best priced at 13/8) who was an impressive course winner under Patrick Millman in November. The Tom Tate trained five-year-old won over 1m4f here in November by 5 ½ lengths off a mark of 49 before slightly disappointing two weeks later when racing too keenly under Franny Norton.

The drop back to 1m2f helped him settle last time where he won well by 2 ½ lengths off a mark of 57 and the 6lb rise from the handicapper is fair. His form in blinkers is 3141 and he should be able to make it 2/2 under Patrick Millman.

Good Morning Alex is 3lbs “wrong” at the weights under a 6lb penalty so this looks a good opportunity for TASMANIAN LEGEND (best priced at 11/8) to make it 2/2 for Alice Haynes. The three-year-old ran well to finish 2nd on his final start for James Ferguson last season off a mark of 65 and he showed a good attitude on his stable debut to win over this course and distance a fortnight ago.

That was the first run for Tasmanian Legend since being gelded and the form of that run was boosted by the runner-up finishing a short head 2nd on his next start and is now rated 2lbs higher. The handicapper has raised Tasmanian Legend 2lbs for that victory so he still looks well handicapped and should prove hard to beat from Stall 4.

The Jim Goldie trained BONITO CAVALO (best priced at 9/4) shoulders a 10lb penalty in this contest but still races from 1lb “well in” at the weights. The five-year-old won on his AW debut in January over 6f here off a mark of 45 before following up over 7f off a mark of 51 by a length. He defied a 5lb penalty to win over 6f last time by 1 ¼ lengths under a confident ride from Paul Mulrennan.

The handicapper has raised Bonito Cavalo up to a mark of 62 for that victory but he in theory runs off a mark of 61 here and should be able to make it 4/4 at this track in under a month.
