Sarah Humphrey gained her first Grade 1 victory on Saturday and hopefully she can taste more success with the in-form JACKS TOUCH (best priced at 3/1). The nine-year-old is 3/3 in mares’ chases in her career including victories at Leicester, Fakenham and at this course last time. She won on soft ground on her penultimate start at Fakenham off a mark of 103 before defying a 3lb rise to win over 2m4f here last time off a mark of 106.

Jacks Touch beat the reopposing Terresita that day by 7 ½ lengths and despite that rival getting a 7lb swing in the weights here, she is expected to confirm form. Jacks Touch shaped last time that this further step up in trip to 2m7½f should suit her well and she is expected to complete a hat-trick of wins.

The Harry Derham trained NORDIC TIGER (best priced at 6/4) is unpenalised for his Wincanton success last week and should prove hard to beat if coping with this drop in trip. The five-year-old had finished 3rd on his first two handicap starts before winning impressively by 8 ½ lengths last time under Alice Stevens in a conditional riders’ race.

The handicapper has raised Nordic Tiger 10lbs for that success but he instead runs here again off a mark of 104 meaning he is 10lbs “well in” at the weights. Alice Stevens is now able to claim 5lbs in this race which is also a positive and the pair should prove hard to beat if in the same form.

Both Crossbeau and HERMES LE GRIS (best priced at 9/4) were unlucky to come to grief at the second last in their races last time and both run in this race from 5lbs “well in” at the weights. Preference goes to the latter who was making his stable debut for Robbie Llewellyn that day on his first start for 244 days since leaving Warren Greatrex. The seven-year-old was well supported in 2/1 favourite and had made stylish headway to take up the running 2 out when falling under Caoilin Quinn.

Hermes Le Gris runs here off the same mark in this race and with Liam Harrison taking over on board over this shorter trip, he should make amends for his mishap on Friday.
