This looks a straight shootout between the top pair in the betting and given ALLEGORIE DE VASSY had Maskada trailing in behind when bolting up at Clonmel on seasonal reappearance she is taken to confirm that form. She drops back to 2 miles here but doesn’t lack speed and it looks a good opportunity for her to get back on track under Paul Townend. Maskada was a very good third behind El Fabiolo and Fil Dor at Cork last time so is the obvious threat. Of the rest Riviere D’etel beat the selection last time but she didn’t give her running that day and back down to 2 miles she isn’t sure to back that up.

I was with MERESIDE MADNESS when he made the breakthrough over C&D a fortnight ago and a 2lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop him following up against these. He is improving all the time and that was just his third start in a handicap. The form of his penultimate third has been franked so he looks on an upward curve and 7f seems his optimum trip. Fanning is on again and he looks the most likely winner. Chapman only went down half a length at Kempton last month so seems the most logical danger. Private Getaway is another one capable of better so she shouldn’t be easily overlooked either.
