This looks a great opportunity for SMOKY MOUNTAIN to get back to winning ways. This son of Frankel was only headed in the final few strides up to a mile at Southwell last month. Back down to 7f here off just a 2lb higher mark he definitely looks the one to beat. Charlie Fellowes has had 3 winners from his last 5 runners so the yard are going really well at present too which is another notable plus. He remains unexposed having only had 3 starts in handicaps so there should be a fair bit more to come yet. Top weight Admiral D was only beaten half a length at Chelmsford last month and looks the danger. Bobby Joe Leg is flying but another 4lb rise makes life tougher again.

The four-timer looks to be on the cards for the progressive CHARLATAN here. He produced an impressive late burst of speed to get up and win going away over C&D last week and turned out quickly if in the same form will take an awful lot of beating. There isn’t a great deal of strength in depth in here so I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t extend the winning sequence. Romanovich also won over C&D last month and backed that up with a good second last time so must enter calculations on recent form alone. Aeroplane Mode is another one in with a squeak but he’ll need to better than last run where he finished nearer last than first.
