Many of the runners in this 0-100 handicap chase face question marks so it looks worth backing BUDARRI (best priced at 7/2) to repeat his victory in this race from last year. The Stuart Coltherd trained eleven-year-old was recording his second course success when winning this race by two lengths off a mark of 77 last season before finishing 2nd at Sedgefield off a mark of 82. He needed his reappearance at this course in November but bounced back to form finishing 2nd from 6lbs out of the handicap off a mark of 83 last time.

Budarri now runs here off a mark of 77 so he is back down to the same mark as this race last year for the first time since and should prove hard to beat.

This looks a weak 0-100 handicap hurdle and BASHFUL (best priced at 2/1) is expected to record back to back victories over this course and distance. The Iain Jardine trained six-year-old outran odds of 25/1 to finish 2nd at Newcastle on his penultimate start off a mark of 81 which made his hurdles mark of 93 look extremely lenient last time. He won well that day over this course and distance by 2 ½ lengths on good to soft ground and a 5lb rise seems lenient.

Bashful was a winner at Ayr on heavy ground in October so this softer ground shouldn’t be an inconvenience and he should prove hard to beat with Conor O’Farrell retaining the ride.
