Following a near-miss in a 2m4f maiden at Aintree, Jonjo O'Neill's gelding was sent off favourite for a competitive handicap in the mud at Haydock and only weakened into fifth late on. With slightly better ground and a drop in class to suit, he could take some stopping. Blazing Soldier kept on well to make a winning hurdling bow over 2m1f at Newcastle and should appreciate this extra yardage, but he has to concede 7lb to his rivals here as a result of that success. Hexham bumper scorer Clovis Island looks best of the rest.

Hello Judge has been dropped 1lb for a respectable third-placed finish at Sedgefield and he has a C&D success to his name, but preference is for fellow track winner RED HAPPY. After scoring over 2m5f here off 7lb lower, George Bewley's charge didn't quite get home when a good third over an extended 2m7f at Kelso and should relish this drop back in trip.

R S AMBUSH lost little in defeat when finding only the progressive Eloi Du Puy too strong at this venue in December and he ran to a similar level in his fourth-placed effort at Huntingdon the following month. This combination of a drop in distance and a return to course could be enough for the five-year-old to open his account, in a contest lacking depth. The main threat could emerge from triple C&D scorer Applaus, who is now 6lb below his last winning mark, while any market support for stable debutant Kellie's Dream would be interesting.

A 4lb rise for SHIGHNESS' first victory over fences at Catterick earlier in the month looks more than workable. Micky Hammond's mare looks to have more to offer in this discipline and a double could be on the cards. Four-time Carlisle winner Houston Texas has yet to taste defeat at this venue and the veteran warrants respect on this return to class 3 company. The Dylan Thomas gelding may give the selection most to think about, ahead of the in-form Jet Legs.

With that in mind, a mark of 124 may underestimate the six-year-old on his handicap debut. Fingal's Hill has struggled in valuable races on his last couple of starts, but he won a similar race here in November and merits respect off just a 3lb higher rating. Better Getalong is the pick of the remainder.
