14:10 Taunton
King Of The Road now makes his handicap debut off a lowly opening mark of 96 but crucially now steps up in trip to 2m3f for the first time. This Class 5 0-100 handicap hurdle is a weak contest and I will be disappointed if he doesn’t prove better than this level.
14:25 Market Rasen
Topweight BREAKDANCE KID (best priced at 6/4) relished the step up to 3 miles last time when getting off the mark over this course and distance and he should prove hard to beat off a 5lb higher mark. The Stuart Coltherd trained six-year-old ran well to finish 4th on his chasing debut at Musselbugh over 2m4½f off a mark of 98 and he took advantage of a 3lb lower mark to win here last time.
Breakdance Kid showed a good attitude to win by two lengths at the finish and a 5lb rise back up to a mark of 100 could underestimate him. Nine Nine Nine looks the biggest danger following his victory at Leicester last time but he has been raised 3lbs for a ½ length success and he could struggle over this trip.
17:30 Newcastle
The Donald Whillans trained PALLAS LORD (best priced at 11/10) has a fantastic record in 2024 and he should be able to complete a hat-trick of wins at Newcastle. The six-year-old has form figures of 21211 this year with two victories over a mile here off marks of 52 and 54 and a 7f win here last time off a mark of 59 (under a 5lb penalty). His latest victory came in an apprentice handicap a week ago where he won by a neck and he in theory runs here off a 1lb lower mark.
The handicapper has raised Pallas Lord 7lbs for that victory meaning that he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat back up to a mile with Jason Hart (1/1 on the horse) back on board.
