This looks a great chance on paper for COUP DE COEUR to get himself back in the winners enclosure. He was an impressive winner over C&D back in November and hasn’t run badly twice since. He chased home a nice prospect in Royal Rhythm at Wetherby and then back at this venue was fourth here last month. That last contest favoured those held up off the pace and I just think they went a bit too hard in soft ground. He has been eased 1lb since that and is better than what he showed there. Quaresome was poor last time and finished tired so has plenty to prove. That may leave Calevade as the danger with a 3lb claimer booked.

That was a career best from ENZOS ANGEL on stable debut for Neil Mulholland at this track last week. He forced the pace for much of the race and was an eased down winner at the line. He is turned out quickly under a penalty here but the step up to a mile and a half for the first time could easily be a catalyst for further improvement and I think he’ll follow up. Hayley Turner has been booked for the ride and takes over from Marco Ghiani and I see that as a positive as well. Bobby Shaftoe has a decent turn of foot for this level and won at Newcastle last time so looks the danger. Racing Country is also in good heart and should get competitive.
