Jolly Nellerie is respected in first time blinkers but preference instead goes to the consistent TRAVAIL D’ORFEVRE (best priced at 6/4). The Nick Alexander trained eight-year-old has form figures of 2331222 including a victory on his reappearance at Carlisle off a mark of 102. He then finished 2nd at Hexham off the same mark before finishing 2nd here over trips of both 2m4f and 2 miles.

Travail D’Orfevre finished 2nd behind Netywell on his most recent start and that rival boosted that form on Saturday winning off a 7lb higher mark by 5 ½ lengths. Travail D’Orfevre runs here off the same mark and he should prove hard to beat in this race back up in trip to 2m4f.

This looks a competitive novices’ handicap chase despite only having five runners and preference goes to GARDENER (best priced at 10/3) who should be 3/3 for this yard. The eight-year-old joined Olly Murphy from Alex Hales rated 110 and he made a winning chasing debut off that mark by 30 lengths at Southwell. He looked set to follow up at Newcastle on his next start off a mark of 120 when unseating his rider at the 2nd last fence before winning by ½ length at Carlisle off a mark of 124 last time.

Sean Bowen gets back on board Gardener in this race ad he should hold strong claims of following up off a 4lb higher mark.

The Lucinda Russell trained FIVEAFTERFOUR (best priced at 13/8) won on her handicap debut last time and should hold strong claims of following up over this longer trip. The six-year-old finished well beaten on her first three starts in novice/maiden hurdles but won last time on her handicap debut off an opening mark of 92.

A 6lb rise for that six length success seems lenient and this step up in trip to 3 miles should suit this PTP winner. Patrick Wadge retains the ride taking off a handy 3lbs and Fiveafterfour is expected to make it 2/2 in handicaps.
