Activist will no doubt prove popular under a 5lb penalty for his recent Plumpton success but preference instead goes to IMPERAL MEASURE (best priced at 3/1) who runs here from 3lbs “well in” at the weights. The Evan Williams trained six-year-old won on his reappearance at Newton Abbot off a mark of 83 on heavy ground before placing at both Exeter and over this course and distance off marks of 87. He bled at Christmas when disappointing at Sedgefield which is a slight concern but bounced back to finish 2nd over this course and distance nine days ago.

Imperial Measure chased home Chankaya that day but was four lengths clear of the third so the handicapper has raised him 3lbs. He instead runs here off the same mark of 89 so he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights and should prove hard to beat.

Imperial Measure - 1pt @ 3/1

This looks a competitive 0-63 handicap where preference goes to HOTSPUR HARRY (best priced at 5/1) who bounced back to form over this course and distance a week ago. The Robert Eddery trained seven-year-old has a poor strike rate of 2-46 in his career but he has gradually dropped down the handicap to a career low mark of 58. He finished 2nd by ½ length a year here a year ago off a mark of 72 so he is really well handicapped off a mark of 58 where he finished 2nd by ¾ length a week ago over this course and distance.

The handicapper has raised Hotspur Harry 2lbs for that run up to a mark of 60 but he instead runs here from 2lbs “well in” at the weights and he looks sure to run well with four places available.

Hotspur Harry - 0.5pts e/w @ 5/1
