I know there is a bit of a cloud over the Nicky Henderson yard at present but even so I’m struggling to oppose JANGO BAIE here. This horse won his first two starts over hurdles beating a couple of nice types in Tellherthename at Ascot and then Favour And Fortune at Aintree. He failed in his hat-trick bid at Huntingdon last time but the winner Handstands looks a really nice type so that form could work out well in time. He is obviously unexposed and open to further improvement and it’s interesting he goes here instead of to the Festival. The danger is likely Personal Ambition who has won 2 of his last 3 but don’t rule out Alnilam either in a good race.

Paul Nicholls is in great form at the moment and FLORENCETHEMACHINE should make a winning handicap debut here. She stayed on strongly to open her account over hurdles at Exeter back in January and now handicapping off a mark of 111 I can see her following up. She should keep improving for a while yet and this seems winnable too so lots to like with Cobden in the saddle again. Jack’s A Legend cruised home at Southwell and looks the danger but he is more exposed and isn’t a certainty to back that up. Brave Jen still has potential but needs to get back to her best and the stable form would have to be a bit of a concern.
