Two of oddschecker's expert horse racing tipsters, Architect and Jamie Radford, have been busy previewing the Cheltenham Festival 2024 runners over the last 10 weeks.

With the Festival set to kick off in just four days time, we have rounded up all of their tips that are still set to run at Prestbury Park next week.

*The tips below were contextual to the time of writing over the last 10 weeks of build-up.

Cheltenham Ante-Post Tips from Architect

Tip 1 - Galopin Des Champs (Gold Cup)

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS (tipped at 11/10) remains a backable price at the odds to potentially repeat his Gold Cup heroics in a couple of months, and based on this performance, it is difficult to see anything beating him if he turns up in similar form.

Tip 2 - Shishkin (Gold Cup)

The value for the race outside of the favourite has to be SHISHKIN (tipped at 12/1), who was very unlucky in the King George. If he can put in a clear round in the Gold Cup, there’s every reason to think he will fill the frame at the very least.

Tip 3 - Facile Vega (Arkle)

I’ll take an each-way chance on the Willie Mullins-trained FACILE VEGA (tipped at 10/1), who has the ability to run a big race and has the best piece of course form in the book when compared to his stable companions.

Tip 4 - Fact to File (Brown Advisory Novices' Chase)

I just cannot help but be impressed with the way FACT TO FILE jumped and travelled last time out before injecting pace into the race at the third last fence, which ultimately left a pair of Grade 1 winners trailing in his wake.

Tip 5 - Three Card Brag (National Hunt Chase)

Gordon Elliott has a good record in the race, and I cannot help but feel as though THREE CARD BRAG (tipped at 10/1) has an excellent chance in a race that should be right up his alley.

He has often shaped like a horse who would appreciate this sort of distance and doesn’t have much to find, with the likes of Corbett Cross having been narrowly denied by that horse when last spotted.

Tip 6 - Dysart Enos (Mares' Novices' Hurdle)

I feel as though the value lies with DYSART ENOS (tipped at 4/1). She has the course form in the book, having won here on her penultimate start, and has done very little wrong in all six victories to date. Moreover, she will receive weight from her two biggest rivals and has won under various conditions.

Tip 7 - James Du Berlais (Plate Handicap Chase)

JAMES DU BERLAIS has contested Grade 1 races at the last two Cheltenham Festivals, so he is sure to find this a lot easier, and his last two placed performances in a pair of what are the hottest handicaps that Ireland has to offer have been extremely encouraging, to say the least.

Tip 8 - Shakem'Uparry (Plate Handicap Chase)

SHAKEM’UPARRY has to be a great each-way bet for the race. He ran a blinder to finish third in the race 12 months ago and turned in a really good performance when scoring here last time, and that win will have done his confidence a lot of good having shaped well at Newbury in his penultimate start.

Tip 9 - Foxy Jacks (Cross Country Chase)

There was plenty to like about the way FOXY JACKS (tipped at 14/1) dismantled a good field when successful over course and distance back in November..

Tip 10 - Coko Beach (Cross Country Chase)

COKO BEACH (tipped at 5/1) is the other one that has drawn my attention. He has bags of form over three miles and further, and he won the Grand National Trial at Punchestown over three miles and four furlongs last February very easily.

Cheltenham Ante-Post Tips from Jamie Radford

Tip 1 - Slade Steel (Gallagher Novice Hurdle) 

I would like to put up Henry de Bromhead’s SLADE STEEL for the Gallagher Novices' Hurdle. I thought his pieces of form got given several boosts over the Christmas Hurdle, to confirm the number he has already put up.

Tip 2 - Stay Away Fay (Browns Advisory Novice Chase)

2023 Albert Bartlett winner STAY AWAY FAY looks a good bet at 5/1 (tipped price). Already beaten twice in six starts, he’s no superstar, but he’s honest, and has never been out the frame.

Tip 3 - Quilixios (Arkle)

QUILIXIOS' 2021 Triumph Hurdle win arguably offers up a serious piece of form with Champion Hurdle placed Zanahiyr, Greatwood Hurdle 2nd Adagio, and Grand Sefton 4th Haut En Couleurs all in behind. It’s been a long way back for de Bromhead’s star with him starting his Novice Chasing campaign over 2 ½ years later, but I have been impressed with what I’ve seen.

Tip 4 - Dysart Enos (Mares Novices Hurdle)

Last year she was a formidable bumper performer, winning twice before successful in Aintree’s Grade 2 Nickel Coin. She won by an impressive nine lengths that day, and the form is starting to be advertised.

DYSART ENOS has been impressive, with two odds on wins bookending a mightily impressive win at Cheltenham in December. In 2nd that day was 132 rated Beat the Bat, a horse who holds Festival entries himself.

Tip 5 - Marie's Rock (Mares' Hurdle)

It baffles me that MARIE'S ROCK is available to back at prices as big as 16/1 on Coral (tipped price). As stated, she fills the 3 miles provision, finishing 2nd behind Sire Du Berlais in last year’s Liverpool Hurdle and recently winning a Grade 2 at Doncaster beating You Wear It Well.

Her form figures at Cheltenham read 271171. One 7th was of 19 runners in the Greatwood hurdle over an inadequate 2 miles whilst the other was in this race last year. Sent off 9/4 favourite, she was keen out the back in a slowly run race where the two horses leading finished 1st and 2nd.

Tip 6 - Stellar Story (Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle)

A key trial for the race has proven to be the Land Rover Novice Hurdle at Limerick over Christmas. Vanillier finished 2nd in 2020, Penhill won in 2016 and Martello Tower also won in 2014. This year, my selection also comes from the race in the shape of 2nd placed STELLAR STORY.

The jumping is a slight concern, but with only two hurdles flights in the final 7 furlongs on the New Course, I don’t think that is the variable that is most important, and at a price of 33/1, I feel more than compensated for.

Tip 7 - Zanahiyr (Turners Novices' Chase)

I marginally side with ZANAHIYR. He has similar form as many of the field in his Triumph and Champion Hurdle placings and also runs far more prominently than Sharjah which seems key for this race. Although he didn’t jump perfectly at Thurles last time out, the race got a very good time figure and Thurles offers a notably difficult jumping test, something that will be lessened at Cheltenham I believe.

Tip 8 - Shishkin (Gold Cup)

The way he travelled on good ground at Kempton, as well as on good to soft ground in last year’s Ascot Chase indicate that a Gold Cup run on Spring ground could be the making of him. Available to back at 7/1 (tipped price), SHISHKIN is a worthy play against the favourite.
